Ok when I original bought my truck it had a stock S-10 rear end with 4:56's and a detriot locker and 1 1\2" wheel spacers.

After a weekend in Pismo I bent my housing and crack the area where the axle tubes go into the carrier case. I attempted to make it back to Ridgecrest with the grenaded rearend. It was horrible, the whole truck was shaking and the rearend gears were grinding away.. lol I almost made it despite the issue (15 miles from home).  The rearend locked up at 75 mph and snapped the yoke clear off my driveshaft.. I had it towed home and work begun.

I had the housing from a 69'  F-100, a preassembled 3rd member with 4.10's and spool. I got a new drive shaft, u-bolts and 2 alcoa look-a-like wheels for the different lug pattern, thankfully I work at a salvage yard. I cleaned the whole housing and took it down to bare metal with a flap wheel. I cut off the spring perches which were on the top of the housing. I cleaned them up and set them on the bottom of the housing and got everything lined up. Once I got my pinion angle where I wanted it I tacked the spring perches in place. I then pulled out the rearend and welded on my shock tabs and perches.. The drive shaft literally bolted right up! perfect length and all. I took my brakeline "T" off my old S-10 and drilled it out so it work for the 9". The 9"s hard lines threaded right into the s-10's "T".

Overall the swap took a week of working on it for 4 hours a night, it costed me a total of $300. lol. I plan to truss the housing, I may do it while it's still on leafs or I may wait until I link the truck.  If anyone has any questions, post up!

Heres some before and after pics.. Sorry about the quality, I broke my Digital Camera...

Nice!  Good to hear it came out so well. I'm looking at putting an Exploder 8.8 3.73-3.90 locker with disc brakes into mine in the future.  You could take your axle shafts down to an axle shop and have them drill the correct bolt pattern, or I believe Strange will still custom drill any bolt pattern into their shafts. That way you dont have 2 different wheels!

Yeah I am aware of my options.. I was wanting to do a complete overhaul on my front end.

I want to rebuild the engine cage so I can mount my shocks further out on the LCA. I also want to build new spindles with Blitzkrieg's Hubs and at the point I would just have 5 on 5.5 all the way around

Its a bolt on rear bumper. I am actually selling it, I am putting a fuel cell in it. If you want it pm me.

What setup would you like to run? my rear bumper or the 9"?

I couldn't be happier with the rear of my truck. I took it out today, I can put some abuse to it and not have to worry about it.

Oh it looked like a tiregate from the pics but I see its not now.
Thats a CO. that makes these rear bumpers on hinges so you can put the tire towards the cab or out the back.

They are well overpriced thought haha.
Yeah the rear end would also be nice to run :)

Yeah I have seen the tire gates. It would be point less for me to have one though, since I have a bed cage and I can't put much into my bed..  Thanks man, I'm loving the rear end   I want to link it and start the cab cage..
