I have 4.10s stock in my S10 (2.2L 5 spd. manual) and running 31's, I think 4.56s would be ideal but the lowest gearing in a stock S10 is 4.10 so i couldn't just pull a stock rear end and do a direct swap. Does anyone know of a stock rear end with 4.56 gears? Maybe a Silverado rear end? Or would it be easier to just have 4.56 gears put in my current stock rear end?

I can not think of anything stock that would be usuable with the gearing, I would look into just having a swap done and get a posi put in while your at it. Anything othere than the axle we have is usually all wider than ours, and unless you want a dragster or you have long travel, your rear end will sit way wider than the front.

Yeah, seems like having 4.56 gears put in my stock axle would cost a pretty penny. I might end up with 235/75/r15s.

Yeah not worth it to me, knowing my luck I would dump money into the new gears and then the truck would take a shit.

Stick with smaller tires for daily(this is what I do) then bigger tires for offroading.

You COULD get another axle and do a slow build with 4.56 so eventually it's complete and swap it then sell your current one.

Yeah that's a good idea, I want to go with 235s, I love the way 31's look but the extra gas I'm wasting and power I am being robbed it's starting to take its toll.

That's what I do, and it my offroad tire are OFFROAD only which mean 30k of offroad life and street a/t for 60k.

Street tire are way much cheaper, last longer on road, while A/t or m/t don't last as long and cost more.  So being on budget, that's what I did and It's nice not to replace offroad tire every 2 years.  I'm still using same one for past 4 years.

Yeah I want to get some cheap 235's probably used, I might just sell my 31's because I don't ever take my truck offroad anymore because I am so busy with work.

Keep them on the side for when you do. You'll eventually have time.

I think 4.56's would be too much with 31's if you plan on doing any HWY driving, before I went to 33's I was running 4.30's with 31's and I also a 4 cyl and 5 speed and I had a top end speed of maybe 75 and my gas milage sucked.
